In the evening, Ji Youyan didn’t see Jing Xiu and Yao Xiao during dinner. Only after asking Chen Desheng did she learn that Jing Xiu had another trip and flew to Beicheng to shoot the cover of top fashion magazine VIVI’s anniversary issue for two days.
Ji Youyan ate a tasteless meal. Although she and Jing Xiu were living in the same suite, the longest and most unbridled time she could spend with Jing Xiu was during that one meal. For this reason, she even gave up her self-discipline as an actress — disregarding her body and eating and drinking well at every meal.
Since she couldn’t see Jing Xiu anymore, when the second day’s training was nearing the end, instead of having dinner with the director and the others in the restaurant on the second floor, Ji Youyan instructed Lin Yue to order another diet meal to the room at night.
Lin Yue hesitated for a moment and felt distressed for Ji Youyan, saying, “Sister Ji, you have eaten very little since the morning and you will be hungry if you eat like this at night. In fact, after weighing you, you are not fat Sister Ji. You have controlled yourself well.” There was an electronic scale placed in Ji Youyan’s room and she would weigh herself every day. Last year, Ji Youyan had been malnourished because of excessive dieting and only after fainting from low blood sugar did she treat herself a little better.
“The fat will not grow tomorrow if I eat today.” Ji Youyan laughed in disbelief.
Lin Yue was embarrassed, suddenly remembered something and said, “Yesterday when I was having lunch with Teacher Jing, Teacher Jing asked me if you were on a diet.”
“Hm?” Ji Youyan unconsciously perked up her ears when she heard Jing Xiu’s name, waiting for Lin Yue’s next words.
“Actually, Teacher Jing didn’t really say anything, but she made a comment that you have a bad stomach.”
Ji Youyan touched her chin, combined with the guess of the stomach medicine that Jing Xiu had given to her before, her lips were going to raise to her ears.
“What do you think Teacher Jing means by that?” She pretended to be calm and asked Lin Yue as a follow-up, wanting to enjoy double pleasure.
Lin Yue held back a laugh and played dumb, “I don’t quite understand. What do you understand, Sister Ji?”
Ji Youyan glanced at Lin Yue and saw through her expression of holding back her laughter. She knocked her on the head, “Good, Yue Yue, you’ve learned to make jokes about your Sister Ji, haven’t you?”
Lin Yue covered her head and defended, “I didn’t, I didn’t learn to joke, I learned to be enlightened. Didn’t you ask me to learn from Yao Xiao?”
Ji Youyan snorted out a laugh, stood up to call Chen Desheng to have dinner together, and then turned back to Lin Yue and said, “All right, I’ll give you an eighty. Let’s go eat.”
Sister Ji has really changed her mind because of this! After Lin Yue looked at Ji Youyan’s bright smile, she admonished herself. No, I need to have professional ethics, I can’t CP!
Ji Youyan contacted Yao Xiao privately and asked Yao Xiao when Jing Xiu would be back, but Yao Xiao spoke professionally, saying that she was not at liberty to reveal Miss Jing’s itinerary. Therefore, Ji Youyan had to spy on Jing Xiu’s schedule in the fan group, believing that she would have to be alone for a few days.
The next evening, Ji Youyan returned to the hotel for dinner after recording a teaser interview and was surprised to see Jing Xiu also at the dinner table.
“Teacher Jing, you’re back.” Ji Youyan dragged her chair back and sat down, her voice filled with unconcealed joy.
“Hm.” Jing Xiu spared no words.
“Did the shooting go well? Is it the December issue?” Ji Youyan was not deterred by Jing Xiu’s coldness and continued to care passionately. While she was disinfecting her own tableware, she saw that Jing Xiu’s weren’t cleaned yet, so she helped her with them.
Jing Xiu had no time to refuse before Ji Youyan finished and put them back with a small smile.
Being unable to hit a smiling face, Jing Xiu placed her hands next to the tableware and couldn’t help but compromise. Her voice also warmed up a bit, “It went quite well. It is the December issue.”
Su Lihang sat at Ji Youyan’s right side and supported his chin with his hands as he looked at the smiling Ji Youyan. Then, he suddenly knocked on his bowl, pouted a little and said, “Sister Ji, I haven’t washed it yet either oh.”
In the past two days, he had good feelings towards Ji Youyan and he thought she was very easy-going and gentle, open but proper. So sometimes he can’t help but tease her and joke around with her.
Ji Youyan looked at him, pretending not to understand and asked back, “What about it, Teacher Su?”
Su Lihang didn’t speak, a pair of peach blossom eyes gazed at Ji Youyan, and the atmosphere at the table looked ambiguous.
Jing Xiu coldly stretched out her hand, took Su Lihang’s bowl, filled it with a bit of hot water and swished it. Then, she handed the scalding bowl back to Su Lihang and said flatly, “Teacher Ji helped me, so I will help Teacher Su.” She looked at Su Lihang and raised her eyebrows, jokingly saying, “Passing on the love?”
Su Lihang and Jing Xiu looked at each other, and for some reason, he felt his scalp go numb inexplicably. He disinfected his own chopsticks and laughed awkwardly, “Hahaha, I’m joking. I have to thank Teacher Jing for her love then.” He eloquently took Liang Zhen’s bowl and said with a smile, “Come, come, I have to pass my love to you.”
Liang Zhen snatched back the bowl, shook his body of goosebumps, and scolded, “Who wants your love, you keep it to yourself.”
The whole table burst into laughter.
Ji Youyan smiled and felt a little sweetness in her heart. She looked sideways at Jing Xiu, but saw that Jing Xiu’s face was the same as usual, and there was no evidence to support the sweetness in her heart.
Ji Youyan was disappointed again.
The grilled fish and small dishes for the main course were served first and the table moved their chopsticks and ate while chatting about trivial incidents from the recent recording and new gossip in the circle.
The door of the box opened and a young waitress came with hot soup.
Ji Youyan was picking at the fish bones when she noticed that the light on her chopsticks seemed to have shifted. When she looked up curiously, she saw the director across the room looking up in alarm and shouting, “Watch out! Watch out!”
She looked up subconsciously and saw the crystal lamp on the ceiling shaking as if it was on the verge of falling. She didn’t have time to think and her body moved faster than her brain, turning around and hugging Jing Xiu beside her.
Before she could react, there was a loud crash next to her ears, followed by the sound of a dinner plate toppling over, along with the sound of chairs being pushed back, people shouting, cursing and apologizing.
“F-ck! What the hell?” Chen Desheng was too slow to dodge and was splashed by a fallen wine.
Everyone else reacted, looking at the broken crystal lamp that had fallen on top of the dishes by the dim wall lamps on both sides. They were all stunned.
“Are you all right?” Ji Youyan looked at the mess on the table and made sure it was safe before letting go of Jing Xiu and asked with concern.
Jing Xiu looked like she was startled and was frozen for a moment. She looked at Ji Youyan with deep emotion and swallowed her throat for a moment before replying, “I’m fine.”
Ji Youyan showed a reassuring smile and let out a sigh of relief.
When assistant director Zhou Kangcheng heard Ji Youyan’s inquiry, he hurriedly asked the others, “Are you alright? Is everyone alright?”
“Shit!” The first sound was a cursing sound, followed by the sound of everyone’s voice, “Yes, I’m fine, I’m just scared.”
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry!” Jing Xiu heard a female crying. She lowered her head and saw a woman half-crouched and terrified, wiping Ji Youyan’s thigh with her own sleeve and on the floor was a dinner tray and broken pieces of a bowl.
Jing Xiu’s face changed briefly. She remembered that a few seconds before the lamp fell, this waitress was standing beside Ji Youyan carrying hot soup and was preparing to serve the food.
Only then did Ji Youyan feel the pain as an aftereffect. She pushed away the waitress’s hurried hands, pulled on her pants, and sucked in cold air.
The others also noticed the situation on her side and said with panic and concern, “Teacher Ji, what’s wrong with you? Are you okay?”
Su Lihang was right beside her and instantly understood what had happened and answered for her, “Teacher Ji was burned by the soup that the waitress brought to her.”
Jing Xiu’s eyebrows furrowed and she reached out to touch Ji Youyan’s wet thigh to test the heat.
Ji Youyan put her hand over the back of her hand, patted it twice, and said calmly with a pale face, “I’m all right.”
Jing Xiu looked at her pretending to smile with relief and her thin lips pursed tighter and tighter.
The waitress was at her wits’ end, only crying uncontrollably, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to.”
Zhou Kangcheng was already on the phone looking for the hotel’s president to pursue the responsibility of the crystal lamp. Chen Desheng was also annoyed, feeling a lump of anger stuck in his throat with no place to vent. He came over quickly, pushed the waitress away and roared, “Can’t you do anything? Go call your manager!”
He didn’t feel comfortable checking Ji Youyan’s burns too closely, so he softened his voice and said to Ji Youyan, “Teacher Ji, I’ll call someone to take you to the hospital right away. Can you still walk?”
Ji Youyan pulled her wet and still somewhat hot pant leg away from her skin to ease the pain and shook her head, “It’s okay, it’s not that serious. The soup isn’t particularly hot.” The pain was still bearable, so she reckoned it shouldn’t be too serious.
She looked at the waitress who was crying tears of pearl on the side, frozen and afraid to leave, and was a bit soft-hearted. She looked like she was in her twenties at most. Ji Youyan pulled out a little smile, comforted Chen Desheng, and said, “Director Chen, let the little girl go. I believe she was just scared by the light falling down before her hand slipped. I’m okay, it’s a small mistake.”
Chen Desheng was still extremely angry and was somewhat reluctant to let it go. He glared at the waitress and backed off, “Leave your name.”
Ji Youyan stood up and shook her pant leg and once again said, “Forget it, Director Chen.” She patted the shoulder of the sobbing waitress and said gently, “Pay attention next time. It’s okay, you can go.”
The person in question was fine with it, so Chen Desheng couldn’t say anything more.
Ji Youyan took the handbag and spoke to the crowd, “I have to trouble everyone to clean up after me, I will go back to the room first to change clothes.”
Chen Desheng said uneasily, “Teacher Ji should go to the hospital to get a check up done.” Everyone agreed.
Ji Youyan smiled and said, “I’ll go upstairs and take a look first. If it’s serious, I’ll go then. Don’t worry.” She pointed to both legs and jokingly said, “I still want to wear skirts, I know the importance of it.”
When she went out, she called Lin Yue and asked if Lin Yue brought burn cream when she came. Lin Yue was eating in the private room next door and said no, so Ji Youyan asked Lin Yue to ask the medical doctor of the program for it.
She pulled off her pants from her skin and once she returned to her room, she took off her pants to check the injury. As expected, the upper thigh was red, but fortunately the skin had not blistered or peeled. It did not look too serious.
The sound of a door opening and closing outside, followed by the sound of approaching high heels and a knock on the door.
Ji Youyan didn’t think much about it. Thinking that Lin Yue had brought the medicine, she opened the door with her bare legs showing and greeted, “So fast?”
The result was that the person standing outside the door was not Lin Yue, but Jing Xiu, whose face was as calm as water.
Ji Youyan was stupefied.
The author has something to say.
Teacher Jing: Seduction plan?
Sister Ji: I’m not! It’s not that! I’m crying!
Well, it’s okay if you want to see…(*/ω\*)
