Volume 4 ~Hatred and Fictional Enemy
Together with Alice, Nikola headed to Class 9’s classroom that was silently placed at the corner of the academy. The classroom that could also be called an isolated class caused him to feel nostalgic.
“How nostalgic…My life as a teacher started from here.”
“It didn’t feel like half a year had passed.”
“The students must be waiting. Let’s enter already.”
When Nikola placed his hand on the classroom door as happy laughter could be heard. At the center of the discussion was his target of hatred, Jessica.
“Teacher…”
“Shh, be quiet.”
Nikola peeked the classroom through the gap between the door. Jessica was standing on the platform while the students were listening to her lesson. The harmonious air was proof that the class was united.
“Hey, aren’t I unneeded as expected?”
“W-We need you! Without you… You know, I’ll get lonely.”
“Only you will say that for me, Alice.”
As Nikola was losing his confidence, a female student asked a question to Jessica. The question was something he couldn’t miss.
“What kind of relationship do you have with teacher Nikola?”
“T-That’s…We’re just a childhood friends.”
“However, it looked like your relationship is quite bad. Could it be he’s your ex-boyfriend?”
Toward the female student’s question, the students let out an excited scream. There was nothing more interesting than someone’s love affair. Especially if it were about their homeroom teachers.
“You’re wrong. I and Nikola aren’t…”
“You don’t need to keep it from us. We know why you broke up with him. In short, it’s because teacher Nikola is unemployed, right?”
“I-It’s not like him being unemployed is bad…”
“So teacher Jessica is the type who thinks employed or not doesn’t matter as long there’s love. It’s rare nowadays!”
“I-I said you’re wrong. Nikola and I are…”
Jessica desperately tried to reject their ex-lover theory, but the flame of the talk was lit, it wasn’t easy to extinguish. Whispers were spreading through the classroom.
“Please, listen! Everything is my fault! It’s because I was stupid that I hurt Nikola! That’s why please stop talking badly of him!”
The students fell silent to Jessica’s plea who was about to cry at any moment. They apologized about the joke going too far.
“Alice, I’m going to get some fresh air.”
“I’m coming with you.”
“I want to be alone for a bit… You can listen to Jessica’s lesson while I’m at it. She’s this class’s assistant teacher even though she’s like that.”
Nikola left Alice and went out from Syanoa academy. Just like that, he returned to his home’s dojo alone.
“I guess I’ll do some image training.”
When he took a stance at the dojo, Nikola formed fictional enemies in his mind. The thing he imagined was the same as always. His sworn enemies: Jein, Mary, and Jessica.
His first opponent was Jein. He reproduced the movement from his memories and exchanged a fist with his sword. The fictional Jein was stronger than the real one. He could barely follow the speed of his swordplay. Dodging the sword and entering his range, Nikola inserted a punch to the fictional Jein’s stomach.
The next opponent was the combination of Mary and Jessica. This time it was also an illusion, but their strength was far stronger than the real people. Mary supported from the rear and Jessica attacked at the front. Their combination was perfect.
However, it wasn’t a threat to Nikola. He evaded the sword Jessica swung and punched her in the stomach. Mary who lost her vanguard no longer had enough power to fight, so she disappeared even before he struck her.
“I hate them! I don’t intend to forgive them, but…!”
The three who he imagined had only received his punch. Previously, he’d have punched their face, not their stomach, and choose an attack that would take their life.
He hadn’t become naïve in the fictional world, but also in the real world. Nikola who had been burning with the flame of revenge right after he was betrayed wouldn’t have stopped from assaulting Jessica just by being called out by Satella. He realized he had gotten naive somewhere in his heart and was irritated.
“Damn it! I should forget an unpleasant thing with sleeping!”
As if to recover his heart of revenge, Nikola looked back on his memories of being betrayed while lying down. He closed his eyelids while burning the flame of hatred in his heart.
